Add a definitive, solid statement to your style with a G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Recrystallised limited-edition timepiece.

We mark this anniversary with the DW-5040PG — an innovative new formation of the very first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000, which debuted 40 years ago in April 1983. The limited-edition timepiece is clad in recrystallised and deep-layer hardened stainless steel developed with this run in mind.

Recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening processes are applied to the screw-lock case back, buckle, and band loop. The black ion-plated case back and gold ion-plated buckle and band loop come together for an original look of remarkable radiance.

To help reduce environmental impact, the bezel and band are made of biomass plastics. The band loop is engraved with four stars for 40, while the words “PROJECT TEAM ‘Tough’” on the dial are a shout out to the team that developed the very first G-SHOCK.

The case back is engraved with the Eric Haze-designed 40th logo, and the lower left button is engraved with a star, for a timepiece that crystallises the G-SHOCK 40th anniversary celebration.

Paying homage to the very first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, this model features recrystallisation and deep-layer hardening processes applied to the screw-lock case back, buckle, and band loop. Black IP is then applied to the case back, and gold-coloured IP to the buckle and band loop. In addition, the bezel and band are made with bio-based resins to help reduce environmental impact. The words ‘PROJECT TEAM “Tough”’ adorn the dial.

The screw-lock case back is engraved with the anniversary logo, while the band loop features four stars to commemorate the four decades of G-SHOCK. Another star is engraved on the Mode button on the lower left side of the case.

PROJECT TEAM “Tough”

This is the name of the team that worked with IBE Kikuo, the father of G-SHOCK, to develop the very first DW-5000C model. In 1983, the team brought IBE’s vision of constructing “a durable watch that would not break even if dropped” to fruition with a tough watch featuring an unparalleled shock-resistant structure. To commemorate the completion of that very first G-SHOCK, a special model inscribed with the team’s name was distributed only to the eight team members.
