Origin Story
Stunning Impact. Creative Face Design.
In 1983, G-SHOCK made a remarkable debut as an unbreakable watch. Since then, it has embraced diverse influences, evolving uniquely. In 2010, the GA-110, a standard analogue model, joined G-SHOCK, capturing global attention with its trendy large case size and subcultural flair.
A decade later, the GA-110 reaches a pinnacle with a new metal-covered construction. The GM-110, an evolution of its predecessor, blends strength and beauty with fresh colours, materials, and finishes. The GA-110 and GM-110, each embodying a unique spirit of toughness, craft a novel chapter in G-SHOCK history, combining origin and evolution.
Designing a MASTERPIECE
A Vision of Toughness × Steampunk
Emerging from the rich tapestry of Steampunk, a beloved sci-fi genre with a subcultural allure, characterized by colossal structures housing potent steam engines and intricate control mechanisms, evoking a palpable sense of weight and magnitude. Inspired by Steampunk's retro-futuristic aesthetic, seamlessly blending street sensibilities with technological prowess, the idea of a steam-powered G-SHOCK took form.
Original Design Combines Large Case and Layered Dial
Case sizes reached unprecedented dimensions. A rivet-style design permeated the series, contributing to a robust and rugged aesthetic. The dial, featuring four-layer lamination, showcased a unique depth. Gear-shaped hands, paired with a Y-shaped part inspired by steam engine shafts, added a mechanical touch to the face.
The increased intricacy, achieved through proprietary CASIO processes, allowed for multi-color exteriors, marking a notable departure in the series' visual appeal.
