Golden Hour in LA: Rui Hachimura’s Signature G-SHOCK is a Slam Dunk
Selected ninth overall by the Washington Wizards, Rui Hachimura made history as the highest-drafted Japanese player in the NBA in 2019. Despite facing numerous personal challenges and injury setbacks, Hachimura is still a brick wall on defence and scores like clockwork on offence, making him an ideal partner for G-SHOCK’s ultra-tough lineup.
Testament to Hachimura’s fearless journey to the bright lights of LA, the G-STEEL GBM2100RH-1A is the fourth signature model from the star Laker. With high-end solar-powered timekeeping, bluetooth connectivity, LED lighting and G-SHOCK’s patented impact-protection, Rui’s signature model packs more technical intricacies than a Gregg Popovich playbook
Embodying Rui’s relentless approach, the GBM2100RH-1A boasts a regal gold-coloured dial evoking LA’s home court, while fiery red accents symbolise both Rui’s passion for the game and the intensity of the 24-second shot clock. The most captivating element is the band, which proudly displays Hachimura’s original ‘Black Samurai’ logo that represents his fierce warrior spirit. The logo also conveys his jersey number eight, which corresponds to the first Japanese character in his last name, ‘hachi’. Even the 8 o’clock side button is engraved with the kanji character for number eight. Of course, that number holds special significance for the city of Los Angeles, as Kobe Bryant famously wore it during the first half of his legendary career. Finally, the G-STEEL GBM2100RH-1A is housed in the kind of luxurious packaging that would make Hattori Hanzō proud!
