Thirty Years Young and the G-SHOCK 6900 Series Is Still Going HAM!

For many G-fans, the DW6900 is both the wristy gateway to the entire brand and still the raddest and most classic G-SHOCK of all time. First released in February 1995, the 6900’s robust circular bezel – which houses the trademark trio of dials and ‘Illuminator’ backlight – would go on to become the proto-template for the next three decades of quintessential G-SHOCK style.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 6900, G-SHOCK are releasing a trio inspired by the debut colour palettes. Both the red and yellow flavours are striking celebrations in their own right, but it’s the badass black (made from renewable bio-resin) with the classic red and white typographical callouts that absolutely nails G-SHOCK’s bulletproof aesthetics. A mirror-finish metal front button offers a period-correct flourish while the 30-star logo etched into the case back and ‘SINCE 1995’ backlight are a worthy visual celebration of the legendary nameplate.

Sneakerheads and streetwear diehards will, of course, already be well familiar with the contours of the 6900, as G-SHOCK has previously collaborated with brands including Supreme, Hender Scheme, Sneaker Freaker, Billionaire Boys Club, Undefeated, John Mayer, Clot and The North Face, among many others. That level of adaptability and versatility is the true hallmark of icon status.

Replete with all the tech that makes the 6900 unbreakable, all three anniversary timepieces are delivered in special edition packaging that pays tribute to the original DW6900H design.

Rebooted colour lineup commemorating 30 years of the 6900 line

Red, yellow, and black colour options are offered in commemoration of the line’s 30th anniversary — the first colors other than black made available with the earlier DW-6900H. The reveal of these original colors pays homage to the 6900 line’s history of diversity in evolution.

Front button: Metal component adding textural appeal

An iconic design element of the 6900 line, the front button, is now crafted with metal. A “G” mark etched into the mirror-finished surface lends a powerful sense of presence, right at the heart of the classic round form.

LCD design for a special anniversary

The words “SINCE 1995” appear on the LCD when the backlight is illuminated, referencing the birth year of the 6900 line.

Special packaging

Each watch comes in special packaging featuring a “G” symbol motif in homage to the package design used for the DW-6900H. The special package design incorporates the trio of colors the watches are offered in: red, yellow, and black.

Attention to materials: Bio-based resin

Key resin components used in the bezel, band, and more are made with bio-based resin, which is produced using renewable organic resources and is expected to help reduce environmental impact.
